Local ministry background:
Helena came to faith in 1999 during her university studies, through the ministry of a friend who shared the gospel with her and invited her to church programs and events. She is an active member of the Pentecostal Church. She has served in several ministries – worship team, leader of a home praying and studying group, and children’s camp leader. Today, she is involved in children’s ministry, leading a Sunday School teaching team and occasionally giving the sermon.

In January 2024, Helena passed the lecturing exams and since February she has been fully realizing the Healthy Youth programs in schools in her region. Her ministry has been developing very promisingly so far. She has gained a good reputation in her region and schools themselves are actively seeking her programs. She offers programs from the Ethical Workshop series

She also keeps developing her professional skills in working with children in an online counselling service for children and young people. And she participates in organizing summer camps for children and a leisure club for children.

How she became a HY Worker:
At the turn of 2022 and 2023, Helena began to think seriously about returning to work after a longer maternity leave and considered various options. At that time, she was approached by the HY worker who wanted to pass on his ministry to a suitable successor. Helena was very interested in this possibility. She found that HY ministry in schools suited her in all respects – the hours and the style and deeper overlap of the work, and applied for the course.

Now she knows it was a great choice. Everything is working perfectly and her ministry is deeply meaningful. Many of the children will naturally be guided in the right direction.

Helena herself says of her ministry, “I want to help children to understand their own feelings, to help them find their way in the world, which is confusing, to help them understand interpersonal relationships. Simply to be close to them: at school, in the classroom, during breaks, in online counselling service, in the leisure club, on the street or at camp.
I am convinced that this ministry has been prepared for me by our good God, who has blessed me incredibly in it and opened doors to schools and to the hearts of children.”
