Pavel Kotoucek started his work in the Healthy Youth Program in September 2012 at Letovice virtually “on a greenfield”. Schools of Letovice and surroundings did not know primary prevention lectures and it took some time for them to see that the offer of a young unknown lecturer constitutes a really high-quality benefit for them. But after the first experiences, the good reputation got around and Pavel’s activity at schools caught fire.
The topic of cyberbullying, lectured by Pavel to children in 7th grade of elementary school, has been highly in demand recently. It is understandable, in view of the development of social networks and their uncontrollable influence on young generation. Pavel lectures his topic in a nice manner, building understanding between him and the children. He discusses all important circumstances with the children, which should be considered in own interest: not confiding sensitive data and passwords, securing own profile in social network, reporting suspicious attempts for contact in the Internet. The lecture is full of important information.
Pavel says that thanks to the development of lecture work, the ELIM citizens’ association experiences also extended interest in club activities taking place twice a week. “Sometimes we learn to improvise,” he remembers a case when about 25 children arrived to a club activity instead of usual 12-15 ones. Fortunately, there is a lot of devoted volunteers who engage readily in the work. An advantage consists also in the excellent technical background provided to ELIM by purpose-aimed rooms added to the Church building. Recently, he and his co-workers have been preparing “Letfest”, a one-week traditional festival for all generations. We wish blessing and success to Pavel and to everybody who has lent a hand to this work.
