Vojtech has been the Healthy Youth worker for three years, but with his calm and thoughtful demeanor, he comes across as an experienced professional who has been discussing sensitive topics with children and young people for many years. He exudes a natural authority and a desire to ensure that, during today’s three-hour Healthy Youth program, these eighth-graders learn exactly what they need to know.
Jan Kucera began his Healthy Youth ministry about five years ago. He primarily visits small elementary school pupils, addressing topics related to relationships among children, with a particular focus on challenging classroom groups. And he’s great at it—see for yourself!
The Healthy Youth worker Marek Vicany works with children and youngsters in a very specific way. In a single day, you can encounter him in two different roles, both of which fully capture the diversity of his ministry: in the morning, he is a rap singer at a concert where enthusiastic elementary school pupils dance and sing to the rhythm of Marek’s band; in the afternoon, he is a kind but demanding soccer coach in an isolated Gipsy community.
As part of the Healthy Youth program called The Adventure of Adolescence, the Healthy Youth worker Hana Buskova offers children “guidance” through this challenging period of their lives. Healthy Youth program in the kindergarten – even for the preschoolers – is nothing usual. But Radka is not doing it for the first time, which is obvious at the first sight. It’s not easy to capture the attention of twenty-five lively children. Radka managed to do it for an incredible hour and a half. How did it happen?
Having everything under control – Katerina cannot guarantee that with her program. But what she could do was very pleasant and encouraging: for two hours she became part of a group of teenagers and could speak to them from the heart and soul, which was very rare. The program about emotions for the ninth graders was surprisingly calm, informative and interactive. Everyone was eager to reflect on topics that they probably wouldn’t have chosen on their own. Viktoria managed to create a safe space in which everyone could work with their own emotions.
The first-graders (pupils in the first year of elementary school) are very vulnerable. They are just getting used to the school environment, atmosphere, duties and rights related to their new role. And that is why the chance to share their feelings, doubts, fears and various questions with someone can be a real blessing for them.
