Protecting unborn life
Planning the visit of Martin Růžička’s lecture was not difficult. After seven years of persistent work, Martin has his lectures booked by schools in the Litoměřice region at least six months in advance. When I went to see his lecture, Martin spoke to 15-year-old students about the protection of unborn life and responsible partnership.
During the two-hour lecture, students follow the evolution of a human being from conception to birth. Using words, pictures, videos and life-sized plastic models of embryos, Martin shares many details and his lecture is characterized by great objectivity. In an open and sensitive manner, Martin also mentions that people who support various beliefs and opinions do not share a common ground on some issues. Often, this is not merely a matter of differing opinions, but there is a huge business involved as well. “It is thus difficult to find out what the objective truth is. You need to form your own opinion.” The lecture goes far beyond simple biological facts. It touches upon one’s decision-making and responsibility. “The reason why each and every one of you is here is that your parents have loved you. Perhaps when they got pregnant with you, it might have interfered with some of the plans they had, but they have chosen your life. ”
The students listen attentively during the full two hours and at the end of the lecture they show their appreciation for Martin by a spontaneous applause. They will meet again: there is another one-hour discussion session scheduled for the next week during which they will be the ones who will speak. The lecture has given them an excellent basis for that.
Martin’s activity draws upon twenty years of cooperation of IN Czech Republic with Christians in Litoměřice, from which many good initiatives have evolved. Martin himself became a Christian many years ago thanks to this work and now he is a proven servant in this ministry.
